Cataract surgery, also called lens replacement surgery, is the removal of the natural lens of the eye. When the natural lens develops opacification, this is referred to as cataract and the natural lens must be replaced with an intraocular lens to restore vision.
Steroid Injection for Chalazion
As an alternative to incision and drainage, steroid injections are effective at reducing the size of chalazion or curing it completely 60-84 % of the time with one treatment. A second injection 2-7 days later may be necessary for larger chalazia.
If stye or a chalazion doesn’t heal after treatment with hot compresses or medication, a surgical incision and drainage may be necessary. Chalazion surgery is commonly performed from underneath the eyelid, so there is typically no scar. On the video the patient is sedated in addition to a numbing agent being injected into the eyelid.
